LADUE, HUNTLEIGH VILLAGE, FRONTENAC and OLIVETTE

One constant in the development of the St. Louis area is the movement westward. Ladue and the neighboring communities of Huntleigh Village and Frontenac were first settled as country properties for wealthy St. Louisans. Today the country atmosphere remains in these communities, where you'll still find equestrians on some of the remaining trails.

Many of St. Louis' finest historic homes and new home construction can be found in Ladue, Frontenac, Olivette and Huntleigh Village. Hidden away on private lanes are spacious estates and luxury homes, many featuring pools, tennis courts or stables. You'll also find single family homes in a variety of styles and sizes, all in keeping with the standards of these communities. Strict zoning laws ensure the environmental integrity and lifestyle that residents of these communities value.

The City of Olivette is experiencing significant redevelopment of older neighborhoods with the demolition of small ranch homes being replaced by larger two-story homes.

In Ladue, there is a commercial district, The Market Place in Ladue, with specialty shops and restaurants. For luxury shopping, Plaza Frontenac is the destination with Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Williams-Sonoma and a host of other fine retailers and restaurants. Several new restaurants have opened in Frontenac and Ladue including Truffles, Brio and Flemmings. Excitement abounds with the reopening of Busch's Grove, Ladue's historic landmark and oldest restaurant. Since 1890, St. Louisans have arrived by horse drawn carriage, limousine or sports car to dine among the community's local gentry and business leaders. Today, it's still a "who's who" destination for Ladue's most fashionable clientele.

The Ladue school district is highly regarded in St. Louis and offers a number of well-known private and parochial schools throughout its neighborhoods. You'll find community spirit drives the Ladue Garden club, and in the spring there's the annual Dogwood Parade, a just-for-fun Ladue tradition.
