MAPLEWOOD and SHREWSBURY
Redevelopment in Maplewood and Shrewsbury is on a roll. Bordered by the City of St. Louis on the east, Webster Groves on south, and Clayton/Richmond Heights on the north, the City of Maplewood is centrally located. While single family homes make up the majority of Maplewood property for sale, town homes, luxury condominiums, urban lofts and villas are popping up across the area.
Maplewood's development began during the 1890's and by 1904, a thriving business district was established. Today, young people and urban trendsetters have managed a resurgence. Schlafly Bottleworks maintains a brewery and restaurant in downtown Maplewood while haute cuisine and lively night spots have energized Manchester Road with restaurants such as Monarch, Boogaloo, Arthur Clay, Mayan Café and Michael's.
The Maplewood School District is a small district of just over 1,000 students in four schools, preschool through 12th grade. The classroom teacher to student ratio is low at 13:1. Maplewood residents enjoy the newly built Heights Recreation center as well as the Maplewood Family Aquatic Center, an outdoor swimming pool and water park.
