Webster Groves and Warson Woods
In 1896 the City of Webster Groves was incorporated. Due to its location on the Pacific Railroad line, Webster Groves was one of the first commuter suburbs in the country, and the train stations still stand as a reminder of the rail commute to downtown St. Louis.
Webster Groves is a suburban municipality with a rich history. Some of the neighborhoods are designated historic districts, and everywhere lovely old frame historic homes and modern luxury custom homes abound on shady streets. In neighboring Warson Woods you'll find brick ranch-style and traditional single family homes in quiet residential neighborhoods.
The commercial district of Webster Groves with family-owned specialty shops and restaurants is convenient to both communities. Webster University's Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts houses the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis and the nationally recognized Opera Theatre of Saint Louis.
Memorial Park in Webster Groves offers excellent municipal recreation facilities to residents, including a huge outdoor pool with slides and fountains for waterplay, tennis courts and an indoor ice rink. There are numerous parks in both communities, and Webster Groves has its own public library. The Webster Groves school district, which is very highly regarded, serves parts of neighboring Warson Woods and Glendale.
