Since launching his career as an agent for Janet McAfee Real Estate, Mac Scott has blended the knowledge he gained from his experience working in local government and in journalism to a successful career in real estate. He has represented buyers and sellers throughout the St. Louis area. His clients have included first time home buyers, people interested in a rehab project, owners of historically significant homes, and people looking to downsize or those considering moving to a more age-friendly living environment. Mac recently earned the prestigious Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES®) designation which indicates a specialty in the sale of homes for those over the age of 50 years-old.
His 21 years as Director of Communications for St. Louis County allowed him the opportunity to learn about the County, its residents, and its many municipalities. Mac’s duties with the County included planning the digitizing of County real estate records which helped make those public records easily accessible and an invaluable help to the entire real estate industry. As a representative of the County Executive’s office, he regularly attended neighborhood meetings, local school board meetings, and countywide citizen forums. The main lesson Mac took from these interactions was a unique “feet on the ground” understanding of how much people in St. Louis value their homes, their neighborhoods, their schools, and a terrific quality of life.
Prior to his work for St. Louis County, Mac worked as a reporter and columnist at the St. Louis Business Journal for almost seven years. During those years, he wrote articles on real estate issues and about trends in the local real estate industry.
